Kevin Taylor, a popular Ghanaian journalist who is the CEO of Loudsilence Media, a broadcasting company based in the U.S., has fired MTN for taking down their zone bundle service, an affordable bundle for all MTN users in this hard time without any notice.
MTN, a South-African owned company based in Ghana and other African countries introduced a data bundle service called “zone bundle” which was very affordable and consumable for only 24 hours, this means that as a user you have the chance to get a data bundle ranging from 1GB-5GB with a small amount ranging from 2 Cedis to 6 Cedis and many users were happy with this service and many customers were enjoying it. Just recently, the Network providers stopped providing that said service inappropriately and this got many customers talking.
Most of their customers are complaining that it is now obvious that the said network providers at acting like a monopoly and so they treat their customers anyhow and this issue is now a clear example.
The network provider now informs its customers about their impromptu action in a redirecting message where when you dial the code to buy the bundle they redirect you to purchase a different package with a different code and this has got many people talking.
In a Facebook post, the controversial journalist tagged the CEO of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh, and also criticized the network service company that they are aware that this is not acceptable in any advanced countries like America and Europe and if they are a high profile company, why should act this way. He said in his post that Nokia thought they were the only smartphone company until other powerful companies emerged and now Nokia is struggling to remain relevant by competing with the best and if MTN is not careful, their revenue and customers will reduce drastically since they do not offer their customers the respect they deserve.
“Your Ghanaian customers of Zone bundle need to be treated with respect and not like fools.
If you have an internet offer you are turning off for whatever reason, you don’t do that abruptly,
you serve notice and give reasons why the offer is being taken off because you have a contract
with your customers.” He said.
